Challenge:
The homeowner had inherited a poorly executed wiring job from a previous installer. Lighting dimmers caused flickering, the network rack was messy and unreliable, and retrofitting was a challenge due to the condo’s fully finished interiors and limited access for cabling.
Solution:
- Cleaned and reorganized the network rack with hidden cable routing
- Installed a Sonos distributed audio system with ceiling and soundbar speakers
- Deployed Philips Hue ambient lighting and corrected dimmer flicker using capacitor devices
- Installed a Samsung projector and motorized screen
- Integrated Lorex surveillance cameras and a smart video doorbell
- Hardened the network using an OPNsense firewall
- Replaced problematic light switches with Lutron dimmers
Results:
- A clean, high-performance smart condo setup with discreet cabling and pro-grade AV
- Lighting scenes now function flawlessly without flicker
- The client enjoys stable, secure network connectivity and centralized control of media and access
